DUE 3/1/13 An Origin of Species
Click on the link below to explore how one species became many as different populations of pollenpeepers adapted to the environments of distant islands. Random mutations cause variation in the species. If a variation is helpful, individual birds with that variation are likely to survive and reproduce. These birds pass that helpful mutation to their offspring. Over time, populations of birds that live in diverse areas become so different that they can no longer interbreed. They become separate species.
